1999 recognition mitted
The patter of mitted was the last recognition by FiFé for the Ragdoll

(source: IG-Ragdoll/FIFé)

Until this time it was easy to breed the original Ragdoll. People could rely on a 5-generation-pedigree of the cattery names: “Blossom Time”, “Petil-Lu”, “Patriarca”, “Pandapaws”, “The New World Cat”,Charming-Doll’s”, “Purriffic”, “Du Masque Bleu”, “Lucill’s Doll”. They could be sure that all submitted Ragdolls were original Ragdolls. They were from breeders who fight in those days (and today again) for the purebred Ragdoll

Of course there are today still more breeders in the german speaking area (and worldwide) who fight for the original Ragdoll, unfortunately they do not unite themselves together so that they are rather unknown…

2003  recognition of new colors claimed
To the chagrin of the original Ragdoll / the founder stem we (Tina Röllin and Silvia Klaus) heart that the application for recognition of the new colors was given in to the FiFé. A lot of breeders, who fought a long time for the original Ragdoll, gave up. For this reason the team of nowadays “VdOR” founded the website www.original-ragdoll.ch for protection and maintaining the original Ragdoll.
In this year also in France the resistance against the new colors grew. Breeders had difficulties to find original Ragdolls for their breeding programs. The knowledge, that there actually do exist still purebred Ragdolls, must be brought back to the breeders (especially to the new breeders)

2004  recognition of new colors by FiFé
New colors and pattern were recognized under the name “Ragdoll” by FiFé in Europe. This was nearly the end for the purebred unique Ragdoll with its single genetic chart. The breeder began a run on the new colors. Without mercy the original Ragdolls were taken off the breeding programs and were replaced by nR and at this time a lot of newer breeder even did not know the original Ragdoll

1997 recognition colorpoint

Finally it was time that also the colorpoint-patter of the Ragdoll was recognized by FiFé

2005 genetical test for chocolate
At the end of the year 2005 we made breeders known on our webpage  that there finally is a genetical colortest for chocolate. At this time Tina Röllin was in contact with Mr. Wagner from the genetic lab Biofocus concerning genetics of horses. She was informed that there is a new gene test available for the color chocolate on cats. Tina Röllin looked for 15 cats (of different races) in the colors: pointed: seal and chocolate and solid: black and brown. So there could be controlled in the first run of the test that the colortest worked out in the right way. This was confirmed!
The original Ragdolls which were DNA tested on chocolate were:

“Charming Doll’s” Brownie Bear in the breeding program “Du Masque Bleu” and “Charming Doll’s” Double Chocolate in the breeding program “of Lucill’s Doll”.
The first test on chocolate was made 2 of January 2006, it was positive, both cats were chocolate, bb

2007 genetical test on dilution
Two years later the Ragdoll could be tested on dilution.
Of course the colors chocolate and lilac did exist in some breeding programs, especially in Great Britain – Ragdolls of “Blossom Time” were imported from the USA.
The Ragdolls of the first generation were seal and chocolate, that means that some cats bequeathed the gene b. Further on in the 4 or 5 generation the colors blue and lilac were shown. It was difficult to breed for
lilac and chocolate if it was unknown which cat was the carrier of the gene chocolate. We had once the confirmation by the testmatings, which were made by the english breeders. Bu this was not accepted so much. That is why even in these days a lot of breeders (in the german speaking area) are still of the opinion that “the colors of chocolate and lilac do not exist in the original Ragdoll”.  This was the reason why breeders (especially in the german speaking area) concentrated on the new colors/patter around the turn of the millennium because this made the Ragdoll breeding more intersting for them. Also because of this reason the original Ragdoll got out of sight
