Blue-Bicolor (Phillipp)
2007/2008 genetic chart of the VdOR
To be able to maitain the purebred Ragdoll in the end Tina Röllin – with the help of Silvia und Bruno Klaus – transferred the genetic chart of Danny Dayton in an own database. It is of course a database as gapless as that what was made by Danny Dayton – only for the original Ragdoll for which the VdOR stands today.

Tina Röllin bought in 1994 the Dayton chart which still was written on papers with a typing machine and she kept them as the most important folder of her Ragdoll breeding. She is in these days the leader of the breeding book of the club Original Ragdoll, genetic is her theme area. It may be possible that this chart worldwide is still the only one. Without this chart it would not have been possible to save the original, the original would have been mixed with other races (source: VdOR).

The 1 line is the founder stem
We call the original stem of which all cats must have been submitted on the Dayton chart the Original Ragdoll. It is the original line. It also can be said “traditional Ragdoll”. All cats that are submitted on the Dayton chart are accepted, also “Blue Mountain” and “Purple Heather”! The VdOR let all breeders decide for themselves if they want to breed with BM/PH or not.

The 2 line is devided in 2 groups
The 1 group contains all accepted and still not yet accepted new colors. The Ragdolls which are of accepted new colors and pattern and the Ragdolls of which more colors and pattern  are still not accepted yet are called New-Color-Ragdoll or simple NR by us (source: VdOR/Dayton chart).

In the 2 group is only bred with the traditonal colors. The Ragdoll which shows herself in the original colors but has new colors and pattern – so has other races in its ancestors – is called Ragdolls in “traditional colors”. But also this Ragdoll is a NR.

The VdOR does not accept any cattery which breeds with Ragdolls of which the ancestors are not known. Such cats will not be submitted at the VdOR, f.e. Lins and Lacelin

2008 foundation club of the Original Ragdoll (VdOR)
In this year the club of the Original Ragdoll was founded in Switzerland. The VdOR exclusively works with the Original Ragdoll. Based on the Dayton chart a lot of worth knowing things could be published and false conjectures could be refuted. The Ragdoll survived until the foundation of the VdOR for 43 years despite the difficult circumstances for the purebred ragdoll

(source: VdOR/Dayton chart).

paws:
big, round and compact, with hair tufts between the toes.

tale:
long, medium strong at the base, tapers slightly towards the tail end, in proportion to the body, well haired and fluffy.

2010 enlightenment work VdOR
A very active use of the VdOR’s team so that the knowledge about the original Ragdolls comes back to breeders:
Colors of the foundation cats / numbrs of F1 generation / information about the gene colortest / database was saved/put under patent at “Eidgenössischen Institut für Geistiges Eigentum”  / pedigrees of Ragdolls can be checked and certified by the VdOR.

Of course it is not easy for the VdOR to save and promote the purebred Ragdoll with the unique genetic chart. But the original Ragdoll as a race has yet a
wonderful personality that is worth to be bred purebred further on.
Close to the pleasant personality the Ragdoll
is the only race where cats can be mated and only kitten of the three pattern and four colors arise. This is unique too.
The original Ragdoll is the only race in the cat’s world with a gapless genetic chart on which all cats trace back to the founder cats. Should the Ragdoll get lost the world will not only loose a race but also a unique genetic chart will get lost.

Even if the chart is only 50 years old  (in the jear 2015) it belongs under

                                                          listed building !!

2015  The original Ragdoll ist 50 jears old !!!

The versions Bi-Color:
The white in the mask begins at a middle point on the front and has the form of a uniformly reversed”V” which goes uniformly over eyes and cheeks up to the whisker pads. The other points are ears and tale, well demarked. The underside of the body and legs are white. The back may have marks of color in any different size but also a closed cover. Both is allowed. White legs are preferred.

The versions Mitted:
The mask covers the cheeks, whisker pads, nose and eyes. The chin is white. A blaze in the face is optional. The other points – ears, tale, legs – are well demarked. Front paws with white gloves. Back paws with white boots up to the thigh allowed, all uniformly marked. White stripe from the chin over the belly up to the back.

The versions Colorpoint:
colorpoint version with clear demarked points, the body may have slight shadows. A mark on the belly is allowed and does not lead to a reduction of points when the cat is typy
.

genetics:
In the past and also today it is claimed that “the Ragdoll is a race mixed up from different races, it cannot be purebred.”
The Daytons were very careful. They wanted to bring this rumor to an end. As they were not trained geneticists they made check the racial purity of the race Ragdoll by a geneticist. For this Dayton handled over all breding dossiers to Dr. Solveig M.V. Pflueger. She should have a look on the Ragdoll and describe its purity. The investigation reports had their climax in an eight-hour lasting seminar at the Dayton’s house.  It was joined by almost all active Ragdoll breeders
Dr. Pflueger’s most important points:
“The origin of this race does not matter at all. Only important is what there is about the Ragdoll now. If you look at a Ragdoll and you can say: the different versions look quite similar in their appearance, means in type and character, so it can be concluded that it is an own race. Also important is that it differs as a group from other races.” The result: “If based on specific matings it can predicted which pattern arise and if it occurs as a regularity so it can be said that the Ragdoll is genetically pure bred.” (source: IG-Ragdoll, brochure 1992).

The original Ragdoll has recognition value
Equal how matings are made there only arise 3 pattern and 4 colors!

Difference Ragdoll / Birma
Sometime the mitted Ragdoll and the race sacred birman cannot be distinguished by alities (the mitted Ragdoll always has a white chin, the birman must not have a white chin!). White spores are visible on the race of sacred birman, they are tapered. The mitted Ragdoll but must have white boots.
There is also a fundamentally difference in the mating: mating between birman x birman produces always a cat in birman markings; mating between mitted Ragdoll x mitted Ragdoll produces different pattern: colorpoint, mitted or bicolor.
